Registering your attendance in class with SEAtS
To register your attendance at your classes on campus, you will need to download the SEAtS mobile app on either an Android or iOS device. This is a requirement, so you must download the app before your first class.

Using the SEAtS app
This app is exclusively for in-person classes. It uses Bluetooth to connect with beacons in your classroom. You need to be connected to the RCL Wi-Fi to use the SEAtS app.
To sign into class:
- Download the SEAtS app and log in using your RCL student email and password
- Before the class starts, ensure your phone’s Bluetooth and location services are enabled on the SEAtS app.
- When you arrive in the classroom, open the SEAtS app.
- On your timetable within the app, select your class and tap ‘Check In’. Your attendance is now recorded.
Questions and answers
If you have recently enrolled in a new module or changed your timetable, it may take 24 – 48 hours for the system to update. If the issue persists, contact seats@rcl.ac.uk to ensure timetable information is correct.
There may be a short delay between a successful check-in and the update in the system. If the issue continues, take a screenshot and send an email including your HE number to seats@rcl.ac.uk
If you are unable to use the app, let your lecturer know. RCL will use paper registers as a backup method for manually recording your attendance. This will be used in exceptions only.
If you forget to check in, you should speak to your lecturer or tutor as soon as possible, ideally on the same day as the class. They may be able to manually record your attendance.
Troubleshooting
If the app isn’t working, try the following quick fixes:
- Ensure you are connected to the RCL Wi-Fi network.
- Check that Bluetooth and location services are enabled for the SEAtS app in your phone’s settings.
- Clear the app’s cache and data or uninstall and reinstall the app.
- Make sure your phone’s operating system and the SEAtS app are up to date.

If you continue to experience technical issues with the SEAtS, such as downloading and installing the app or signing into the app, contact the IT Support team at support@regentgroup.org.uk to log a ticket.
