Career Discovery Week brings students and employers together
More than 600 students took part in Career Discovery Week, a week-long programme of employer-led talks and Q&A sessions hosted by RCL’s Careers and Employability team. The event gave students the opportunity to explore career pathways, hear directly from industry professionals, and gain insight into recruitment processes across a range of sectors.
Held from 27 April to 2 May, the programme featured sessions from employers and professionals across business, computing, health, engineering, and social care. Speakers included accomplished representatives from Haringey GP Federation, Finchetto, Independent Living Alternatives, Walk With Path, and Damac, who shared their career journeys, industry advice, and practical tips for entering the workplace.
Sessions took place both on campus and online, allowing students from across RCL to participate and connect with employers from different industries. Students were able to ask questions, learn about the skills employers are looking for, and explore future opportunities in their chosen fields.
A student shared this positive feedback following the event:
“The workshop worked well because it was interactive and gave practical insights into different career paths. I especially liked the real-life examples and the opportunity to ask questions. Overall, it was a very useful and engaging experience.”
One of the employers had this to say:
“Thank you for inviting us and allowing us to participate in the event. It was a great day and lovely meeting you all and your students. Your students were so engaged and great to talk to.”
Career Discovery Week forms part of RCL’s ongoing commitment to supporting student employability and helping students prepare for their future careers through employer engagement and real-world industry insight.
