Hardship Fund

Applying for the Hardship Fund

We understand that unexpected financial challenges can arise during your studies at Regent College London (RCL). The Hardship Fund is here to provide support and alleviate some of that pressure, helping you to focus on your education.

Check if you can apply

You might be eligible to apply for the Hardship Fund if you meet the following criteria.

The criteria include:

  1. You are a home (UK) student who is enrolled directly with Regent College London and paying your tuition fees here.
  2. You are enrolled in a full-time or part-time programme at levels 4–6 (Higher National Diploma or bachelor’s degree, including top-ups).
  3. You have applied for and received at least your first Student Finance instalment.
  4. You are not repeating your year of study.
  5. You have not received a Hardship Fund award in this academic year.
  6. Your financial difficulties emerged after you began your course.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the Hardship Fund application form. You’ll need to upload supporting evidence with your form.

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • A short statement of income and expenses.
  • Your three most recent bank statements.
  • Proof that you’ve received your first Student Finance payment.
  • Documents that explain your situation, like unexpected costs, job loss, illness, or changes in dependents.

Incomplete applications may be delayed or rejected. Make sure all evidence is clear and up to date.

What happens after you apply?

Applications are reviewed monthly by the Hardship Fund Panel. You’ll be notified by email whether your application has been approved or declined.

If more information is needed, you may be contacted to provide further evidence.
Approval in one academic year does not guarantee future funding in later years.
